Employees' State Insurance Registration Services
The standard criterion for qualifying for ESI (Employees' State Insurance) registration is employing 10 or more individuals. However, in certain areas, ESI applies only when there are over 20 employees.
- Payment: 15th of every month
- Returns: May 11th and November 11th
- Key criteria for eligibility include: 1) Employees earning a gross monthly salary of up to Rs. 21,000, facilitated by their employer.
- ESI contribution stands at 6.5% of the total salary, distributed as follows:
1) Employers contribute 4.75%.
2) Employees contribute 1.75%. - For industrial settings prone to potential injuries or health concerns, it's mandatory for all employees earning below Rs. 21,000 to be covered under ESI.

Medical Coverage
- Upon employment, ESI-registered members and their families receive comprehensive medical insurance and care.
Maternity Support
- Pregnant employees can avail maternity benefits for up to twenty-six weeks, extendable by 30 days based on medical recommendations. Employers contribute wages for 70 days within the preceding two contribution periods for eligibility.
Disability Benefits
- Employees with disabilities are entitled to receive 90% of their monthly earnings as disability benefits.
Sick Leave Benefits
- Workers can take up to 91 days of sick leave annually, receiving 70% of their monthly wages during the period.
Survivor Benefits
- If an employee passes away during service, their dependents are granted 90% of the deceased individual's monthly salary.
Burial Assistance
- The family receives an additional Rs.10,000 for funeral expenses of the deceased employee.
Childbirth Expenses
- For insured women or spouses giving birth in locations without ESI medical facilities, childbirth expenses are covered.
